SubSTATION Server 2 Operator Training

SUBNET’s SubSTATION Server™ 2 Operator Training is a hands-on course that covers administrative functions in SubSTATION Server. Learn about master and slave protocols, devices and connections, working with the port server, calculator and logic functions, using comma separated value (CSV) templates and event file collection. SUBNET Solutions offers a 1-day training course that covers configuring the SubSTATION Server platform, and transmitting data beyond the substation. . This training is an introduction to the flexibility and versatility of the SubSTATION Server 2 product, but is not intended to be a designer level course.

Course objectives include:
 
  • Learn to work within the SubSTATION Server main interface
  • Understand the relationship between connections, devices and points, and learn how to create configurations
  • Achieve a basic understanding of master and slave protocols in SubSTATION Server and confidence creating digital input and output, and analog input and output points
  • Understand and gain experience using the Event File collection for SEL® relays
  • Basic introduction to other SubSTATION Server modules
Course abstract:
 
  • Overview of the SubSTATION Server platform, standard available protocols, and logic and enterprise applications
  • Introduction to the SubSTATION Server main interface, menus, toolbars and options
  • An overview and hands-on practice in creating connections and devices using the Device wizard or using pre-made CSV templates
  • An overview and hands-on practice in adding and editing data points, including practice forcing points or issuing controls
  • Hands-on instruction and practice creating DNP3 and SEL Fast Messaging master devices and relays including configuring digital input and output, and analog input and output points
  • An introductory discussion of master protocols, including properties, quality flags and connections
  • A basic discussion of slave protocols, including properties and connections
  • Hands-on instruction and practice creating DNP3 slave devices, and using device wizards and CSV templates
  • Hands-on practice with the Auto-mapping tool, including mapping master and calculator points to slave points
  • A discussion of Port and Terminal servers, and the 20xx Emulator
  • Overview of Event File Collection for SEL relays and the Calculator module
Prerequisites:

SubSTATION Server 2 Operator Training is open to all levels of experience. Attendees should have a solid understanding of substation communication protocols and general substation devices.
