ASE2000 v2 Test Set Training

SUBNET’s ASE2000™ Version 2 RTU Test Set Training is a hands-on, one-day training course that offers a focused and comprehensive introduction to working with the ASE Test Set.

Course objectives include:
 
  • Understand the various model options for the ASE Test Set
  • Discover how to use the Master Mode to interrogate RTUs and IEDs
  • Understand how to build a database in RTU Mode to perform testing with a master
  • Learn to use the Monitor Mode to pinpoint problems occurring between master and slave devices, and optimize communication performance
Course abstract:

ASE2000 Test Set

  • New features available in Version 2, such as Task mode and Expanded Message View
  • Version 2 License Manager is discussed including Entitlement Date
  • Version 2 now offers Standard or Common protocols as well as option protocols
  • The different Hardware requirements and options are explored
  • Overview of the ASE Test Set’s modes of operations, Including Master MTU Simulation, RTU Simulation, Monitor Mode, Line Monitoring Mode, Task Modes, ASE Event Logging and File Capture
  • Correct cabling set-up for testing modes: Master, Remote & Monitor
  • Overview of the ASE Test Set graphical user interface
  • Master Mode Simulation: Includes protocol selection, communication parameters, exchange templates, protocol properties, Point Values view (creating devices, obtaining points lists and setting up scaling properties), master controls (digital and analog views) and capturing auxiliary files. Plus hands-on practice
  • RTU Mode Simulation: Includes protocol selection, communication parameters, data simulation with exchange templates, protocol properties, and transmission methods. Plus hands-on practice.
  • Monitor Mode Simulation: Includes monitoring a communication line, Line Analyzer view (verifying timing with modems and signal levels) and graphing. Plus hands-on practice

Prerequisites:

Prior understanding of the DNP3 protocol is recommended. A VM with a full version of ASE2000 Test Set will be provided for each attendee to use during the training.
